Parents of students attached to School of the Nations are now offering a $1M reward to anyone with information which may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators who have issued threats to the educational institution.

The announcement was made via a letter handed over to media operatives as those parents gathered opposite the Public Security Ministry. Brickdam Georgetown to protest for the fast tracking of the ongoing investigation into the recent terrorist activities.

Parents speaking with the media on Tuesday

According to the parents, they will only feel safe when the perpetrators in this crime are caught and prosecuted.

“There are evidence of amplified security measures in and around the school’s premises and we are pleased but we will not be convinced that all schools are safe again for our children when the criminals are caught and until them we won’t ease our efforts” the letter stated.

However, the frustrated parents are demanding answers from the police in relation to the threats stating that they believe they deserve updates which is not the case.

The Police are investigating shooting and bomb threats issued by an unknown individual on social media who goes by the name Nations Troll. The threats were made against School of the Nations, Bishops High School and Queen’s College on Friday last.

Queens College a few minutes before classes were dismissed on Friday was reportedly on lock down as gates remained padlocked and heavily guarded due to the treats.

A few moments prior, Police ranks had visited the school with a sniffer dog to assess the situation. Parents were not allowed to enter the premises so they waited outside until classes were dismissed.

At the Bishops’ High School, there was a similar scenario as students waited inside the premises until their parents arrived. As information began to spread about the situation at the schools, small messages were dispatched to drive fear into students and teachers.

One of the posts later said, “Lock down ain’t gonna stop me.” Assurance was given by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) that the safety of all stakeholders remains a commitment.

“Those matters are also being investigated by the Guyana Police Force which wishes to assure members of the public that it is committed to ensuring safety and security of all students, teachers, administrators and parents of the aforementioned schools and all other private and Government schools,” the Guyana Police Force (GPF) had stated following the incident.

The government should take the million dollars and give it to the ex-sugar workers. Put the ex-sugar workers to guard the schools and pay them.

Yeh right. How many of those guys would like to place themselves in harm's way?
