This is a serious question. Isn't the man a Marxist?
I suppose this is a slap in the face to the PPP, but how is this helping AFC? What does Trotman say?

Anything the AFC can scrap and 'sanay' for a meal, they will be happy. Moses is giving them some attention, but he is not bringing anything other than 'revenge' to the PPP.

PPP will live on forever, bringing prosperity to the nation...

This was a quick political death for Moses.

Moses will leave for the same reasons Peter Ramsaroop had left.

How can modernity be an excuse for using taxpayers not only to build the infrastructure for this area, but also to run an exclusive water pipeline from Mon Repos, and to top it off, move a signal tower to the tune of G$200M? Mind you, after all of this, including building concrete drains never before seen in any other Gov't housing scheme in Guyana, to have the land sold to himself for G$5M per acre?

I have great respect and admiration for Mr. Nagamootoo, but I don't believe he's all good without mistakes. The AFC will lose the November 28 election with Moses on board, and that will be very burdensome to any PPP former member's endorsement. This may be big news for the AFC to announce, but it's not noteworthy to the common man. I must say that Moses has made a fool of himself to join ranks with hooligans.

We lost Moses but we gained Joey and Peter.

They have more to give the PPP and than Moses will ever give to the AFC.

Joey will mobilize the berbicians in the name of his father. The PPP will live once again.
In 2006 they were saying the same thing. Although they have some more PPP rejects, their campaign again is not very organised.

The only thing that the AFCites learn from their bottom House meetings, is how to count from 1 to 100.

After spending a happy Divali, Bookman is back in the struggle now.
So, Moses and Lady Garrido-Lowe are now on the AFC slate, eh? Boy oh boy, that's Gomattie Part 2 in the making. Bookman can't wait to hear about the jhanjhat that will end all jhanjhats.
Meanwhile, Bookman sticking on solid to the indomitable PPP/C and the Donald.
For sure, the PPP/C will be victorious on November 28. The AFC will lose, with or without Moses. Watch and see.

Moses joins the AFC
by Neil Marks on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 5:02pm

It is now certain that Moses Nagamootoo, who served the PPP for almost five decades, has joined the platform of the Alliance for Change.

Nagamootoo, 64, will step on the AFC stage for the first time Thursday at a rally billed for Independence Park at 1:30 PM. From there, the party leaders will head to City Hall to present their Candidate List for contesting the November 28 polls.

Nagamootoo Monday resigned from the PPP, saying the current leadership has demonstrated the sort of pettiness, greed, corruption and arrogance that party founder, Dr Cheddi Jagan, fought against.

He served as a Member of the PPP Cabinet governments of Dr Cheddi Jagan, Janet Jagan, Samuel Hinds and Bharrat Jagdeo.

Nagamootoo was educated at the Auchlyne Scots School, Corentyne and the Rose Hall and Comprehensive High Schools. He was a visiting journalits at the University of Kansas and pursued studies towards a Law degree at the University of Guyana and the University of the West Indies.

He was a teacher between 1964-71.

He was born in Whim Village on the Corentyne Coast. His parents, Gagana (chunoo) and Nagamootoo Ramaswamy (Mootoo) were first generation Guyana-born offspring of Indian immigrants who came from India's Madrasi population.

His book, Hendree’s Cure: Scenes from Madrasi Life in a New World (Peepal Tree, 2000), a work of documentary fiction, is a libation to the Madrasi world of his youth.

Nagamootoo has the support of his wife, Sita (a former headmistrer and lecturer at the teacher's training college) and that of his four children Angela, Maria, Adela and Moses Ernesto.

You think that those guys would follow moses blindly..

I do not have the franchise and I am too far removed from ground zero to make a proper & informed assessment. Nevertheless, if it is any consolation to you, after 19 consecutive years in power and in spite of the palpable economic progress under their watch, the recent behavior and antics of many in the administration has convinced me that they have earned and deserve a hiatus on the opposition benches. Increasingly their arrogance, shamelessness, bare face, bold face and vulgar abuse of power has made it difficult for those with a conscience to ignore or excuse. I hope the ascension of the AFC platform of the likes of Moses, Ragendra, Van West Charles and others would be the shot in the arm that the AFC need. Good luck and best wishes!

Moses will not be joining the AFC. He will remain out of it. But let's assume that he does what is the likely scenario? He will turn against the PPP and will say bad things, which is not new. The same things were said by Teekah, Chandisingh, Harry Lall etc. and where did it get them? The real deal is that the Guyanese nation is not stupid. They know that Moses would be there to feather his nest. The real loser will be Moses in the end as his legacy will be tarnished.
Ultimately, it is Moses to decide what he wants to do...

I fully agree with you Alex. You said it so well.
In my view, Moses has been in the wilderness for a number of years after his fiasco with the PPP. He never made an attempt to make amends. Rather, every ear he is lucky to get, he will tarnish the PPP and would not give any credit to the PPP's effort. While one can acknowledge that a government is not perfect, one must be unbiased and offer some recognition of its progress. Moses could not do this as he was emotionally charged every time he engages in a conversation about the PPP. It was all about MOSES and no one else. How hurt he is. He carried a HOT HEAD instead.
Now, he has no legacy but his EMOTIONS to wear on his sleeves.
He could have made a comeback but decided (again, HOTHEADEDLY) to be revengeful and to get some press report ABOUT MOSES. This is the only spotlight before his light goes out (politically speaking)... and soon a DEAD DUCK. Frown

Why can't you people just say, "good luck" to the man (Moses) and move on?

Prior to Moses splitting from the PPP wasn't he just great? Now he's moved "forward" he's suddenly become a monster.

Is this how y'all gonna treat the Prez after he hangs up his jockstrap..OOPs, I meant, his crown?

Alex,

if Moses's motive was feather bedding, one would think the best place would have been with the current cabal and not on the platform of a fledgling party. Remember in 1948 when DR. Jagan turned his back on the powerful MPCA and established BGEA to form GAWU and the PAC cum PPP, it was not on account of a self serving agenda of feather bedding . There comes a moment in a man's life when serious introspection are needed to make bold decision and those decisions could differentiate the bold & brave from the crooks, cowards self servers.

Thanks Gerhard. Now remind Moses if he recalled the conversation in December 2003 in his office with the chap from Vancouver ( and 2 others) who commended him for his principled stance in the Jagdeo / Ramjattan imbroglio and predicted then that his future with the PPP is finished unless he takes his battle with Jagdeo openly to the public? As I recalled, that was at least a year before the birth of the AFC.

He is truly a man who made many sacrifics for the Guyanese people, but he had to deal with some very tough situations. So, do not knock the strength, agility and yes, at times, combative nature of a man whose vision for economic development was at the heart of his agenda.
Sometimes, a leader must be cruel to be kind.
He is a vindictive, small minded ninny. Woe is us that came with the authority of the presidency. Our saving grace is we did not select him. The PPP cabal did.

And a degree from Lumumba U does not count for much. It was designed to mint communists rather than scholars.

It is probable a residual psychic injury from a serous ass whopping while growing up that caused you to to come up with the morally deformed piffle about " sometimes leaders must be cruel to be kind". By definition, "cruelty" implies willful injurious behavior directed at others. No rational moral or religious tradition sanctions such behavior. You folks are seriously damaged goods.

Will Moses's name be on the AFC's Electoral list.

I heard that the AFC does not have a full slate of candidates and that is why they resort to begging people to join them. First they throw a wedge the men and their party and then get them thrown out so that they can join up.

Rama, Jagdeo is on his way out. He is still calling the shots behind the scenes right now but he only got a few days more. I am in agreement with Jagdeo and support of Jagdeo. when it comes to (1)The crime situation. These racist criminals were exploiting innocent indians. (2) He tried to build an independent identity in the party away from the dominant Jagan way of thinking which has a strangle hold on the minds of most PPP supporters.

What I don't like about the man is that bloody big house of his and that massive pension. It will take an army of cleaners to keep that house clean and it will take him another fortune to upkeep the house over the years with all the repairs. Guess who will be paying for that. The Guyanese tax payers.
