β Team steps up preparations for August tournament
The national U-15 male team will today wrap up a successful five-day encampment on the West Coast of Demerara. The camp is in preparation for CONCACAF U15 Boys Championship in the United States of America (USA) from August 13 β 19. In an invited comment, Bryan Joseph, Head Coach of the National U-15 Boys team said he was pleased with the progress made by the players from the last camp: βWeβve seen progress faster than weβd expected. The team has grown a lot over the last few months and the several encampments weβve had. Weβre now in a position where we have a clear picture of our potential based on what we have been able to achieve. We also have a better understanding of how to prepare the guysβ¦β Joseph said the new players from the GFF-Scotiabank Academy Training Centres (ATC) included in the squad have added a competitive edge to the players, βThe camp has got very competitive and every position within the squad is being challenged by new members so we have observed that both the level of play and commitment have improved. Clearly we have seen the importance of the ATCs and how the developmental pathway of the players is coming together.β He envisages Guyana to be very competitive in the August tournament: βThis is still a process, we donβt have the final product as yet, we continue to build with a solid technical unit that is working together to bring out the best in the team. We expect a competitive tournament and we plan to be equal to the task. Therefore, weβre working to get the young footballers ready to face whoever comes before us.β
