Vishnu,
I called on of the number on the flyer and I ask what are they collecting and the person said they have no idea.
Vishnu,
What are you guys collecting and how will it get to the affected people and when? Who is the contact person for the Caricom Consular Corp?
When will the first shipment go out?
Are they collecting drinking water?
What about hardware ?
Vish,
It was nice speaking with you and thanks for clarifying that you have no idea as to what is most needed nor as to when the items collected will be shipped. If I were you I would have asked them to take off your name.
In the meantime I will contact the name you gave me, Ms Barbra Arhterly at the consulate tomorrow morning.
In disasters these willy nilly type of collection one has to be careful of.
Chief, did Vish ask you to broadcast the conversation???

Chief is an old head. He knows all of us more than we know ourselves, including Vishnu. Nehru is getting into a personal & dangerous territory.

you are just someone seeking visibility
We do not dictate what you must bring. Common sense must prevail.
When you quote someone please quote them correctly
Anyone can call Vihsnu and and any other number on the flyer and if you are satisfied with the answers then donate.
If not stay 1000 miles away, this seems like another publicity stunt.
This fella went to Hajj yet he is stirring ..it on the forum
Try to get PEACE within yourself
This is an appeal for a show of humanity.
This is not for political posturing

Vishnu, when one goes to Hajj, he receives a world of blessings and power to pry into anyone's life, public and private. Some of my cousins who are in Chief's league have done some extraordinary things that made us lagu-bagu look like uncivilized men.
It has long been known that the best way to help is to donate cash and not items. It might be better for Dominica to source these out of Trinidad and put it on some plane and have the T&T gov't cover those costs than to try to ship these items from NY.
I am looking for some reputable Dominican group(s) to give my cash to. Dominica is the island that needs the most help.
and in fact another reason why cash is better is that we don't know what is needed in these places. In fact access to clean water is probably most critical. As of now the people have to wait for the rain to fall if they are to bathe.

Carib
If you do find such a group please share.
I really want to give to the Dominican people.
looks more like publicity than anything else

Have you ever been involved in doing something for a disaster.
This is serious matter and the recipient should recieve what is donated.
If the man whose name in the flyer does not know what should be collected and when it will be shipped then this ain't looking good.
Over 70000 of our brothers and Sister in Dominica do not have roof over thier head tonight. In the meantime these jokers printing flyers and putting names down like I'd this is some fun shit
RiffRaff posted:looks more like publicity than anything else
And Vish is aware of this and he come and post this shit on GNI for Nehru and Cobra to say he is a good boy.
I woke this morning thinking about all these people who has no roof over thier heads.
Natural disasters cause 24 million folks across the world to go into poverty annually.

Will let you know. The closest I can get is the Caribbean Tourism Org of which Dominica is a member. I am a bit reluctant to give to government controlled organizations though. Not sure I want my $$$ used to fix the Dominica PM's roof.
Carib and everyone else.
Please go on Prime Minister Skerrits Face Book page. There are lots of information as to where and how you can donate to the suffering people of Dominica.
I think I will gather a few people today and tomorrow and make a house to house collection of items from Queens and take it to the drop off point in Brooklyn
Please ere donate÷These are our own brothers and sisters.Dominica was already a poor Island but I loved the people and the country. There was a guy who had a popular fruit stand that called Mr. Nice , hope he survived. He never charge his customers, his motto " It's nice to be nice" so leave a tip.

You must admit that at the time Chief asked, the flyer did not contain the items listed on this one. Either you initially posted the wrong flyer or the flyer was updated. Perhaps after Chief inquired about what was needed. If anything, maybe the Chief should not have been so eager to help. Additionally, it seems that you were not initially quite sure what you were advertising. Lastly, going to hajj does not prevent someone from asking pertinent questions and ensuring that they are comfortable with what they are doing. And since when exposing a scam is something to scoff at? There re many scam artists who come out of the woodwork during natural disasters. So much so that FEMA spent days after IRMA beating it into South Floridians' mind.

You must admit that this is not a good blueprint for business. Although some tippers can be better than payers.

He was catering to tourists who went up to the mountains. All the bus drivers will stop on thier return when most people are starving. Tourists tend to be more giving when they are having a good time.
In our group he feared well for almost.all.of us give him like 10 US each, not bad for a water coconut, piece of roast corn, a sugar cake and a.pice of sugar cane.

Well, the sugar cake alone is worth more than $10.
You speaking about another type of " Sugar Cake"
Prime Minister Skerritt was in Brooklyn on Saturday Night. Large turn out.
Vishnu how did your collection went over the weekend?
You are the one started this thread so we need answers.
According to reports received via an FB page of some one with connections from Dominica when the goods arrive in Dominica they don't seem to have the infrastructure set up for distribution.
Better to give cash. That way if there is a need for money to transport the products it will be there.
Definitely however there is also a need for items.
Chief posted:Definitely however there is also a need for items.
As of a few days ago the items were in a bond and couldn't be moved because there were some logistical issues. Not sure what the current situation is.
Thanks Carib, I love my Caribbean peeps! Can retire in one of those Island.
Cash is convenient but not always the most effective type of help. It wouldn't provide relief where things aren't available. Plus cash is easier to find itself into the wrong hands.
In the meantime where is our friend Vishnu?
Is this boy hiding or is he tired?

Somehow I get the feeling that Vishnu hates me.
Ow Kaz doan say that about Vishski.
By the way, would some 'erb be considered a good donation?

'erb is always a good donation pal. Tell you what, if you don't want to take the trouble sending it all the way to the islands, you can always send it on a shorter trip to SoFlo.
Hehe
ksazma posted:. Plus cash is easier to find itself into the wrong hands.
As we speak goods can also end up in the wrong hands. Often stolen/looted from warehouses and sold at black market prices. Especially in situations which are as desperate as in what we now see in PR, the VI, St Maarten and Dominica.
The main advantage of cash is that it allows those providing help to respond to needs as they quickly emerge, and aren't reliant on what people send down.
This appears to be the official site for those who want to make cash donations to Dominica. They also have an Amazon wish list for those who prefer to have goods sent. This is as requested by the Dominica gov't.
