Bibi Haniffa posted:Happy my derrierre. No one who is happy will denounce their identity. To be ashamed of who you are, is the lowest form of self-esteem. Blacks should be proud of who they are. Likewise, Indians should be proud of who they are. You don't have to become someone else to be proud.
And this is the thing. These people are proud of who they are, and that is being Guyanese people of East Indian descent.
They don't need to think that they are better than others. They don't think that they must be terrified of others. They feel confident that when they encounter racism from others that they will deal with it.
Most importantly the understand that Guyana is shifting from a nation with two dueling giants, bent on self destruction to a nation where large numbers will identify as of being multi ethnic. 45% of Guyanese under 15 do NOT identify as African or East Indian.
So when Jagdeo screams that OUR PEOPLE (PPP supporters) must take back Guyana from THEM (people who are NOT PPP supporters, meaning black people) he is out to date and a dinosaur. And so are YOU for equating any criticism of the PPP by an Indian as self hate, low self esteem or selling out.
