Everything starts at 65 banna. Drug store specials, Cheaper transit fares, etc. Funny thing, I was asked for my ID while shopping a few weeks ago  because I picked up beer for my relatives. I was dressed sorta gothic so I guess someone got fooled.

Happy belated Birthday. If you purchase Beer from Walmart and other big chain stores, by law you have to produce your driver license or other photo ID. The LCBO or Brewers Retail don't request ID, only if you look under age.

(1) What year wheat flour and other food items were banned.

ANSWER: It started in the early 1970s with the publication of a list of RESTRICTED items.

(2) What year contraband started, bringing in these food items .

ANSWER: After the 1973 election the restricted list was lengthened and upgraded to a PROHIBITED list. Contraband trading emerged as a culture.

(2) Which Ethnicity was the majority in the illegal trade.

ANSWER: I don't have statistical evidence but I would say Indos.

You should ask which group had to buy from the black market and which group could get the police on you if you dare (Indo) sell it or sell it to them at the higher price.

Yep,way back in the 70's

You are way way older than me. But did you know Ian Fung? I'm guessing he would be closer to your age were he alive.

Can't recall,I know,Maureen and her brother,me thinks their last name is DeCosta. Our trainer was a guy named Dhanraj from WBD.

Our Dojo was at Leonora WCD,periodically we will go to Thomas Lands in GT for training and Examinations, the examiners were from Japan.

Same suggestion here. Often breakfast of boiled eggs whites only, cherry tomatoes, avocado with slight pepper and one rye toast. One coffee only and 100% mango juice.

Find an exercise  program that works for you and is comfortable to your life style. Even 20 minute walking daily is good exercise.

Don't wait for old age to start, because disease like stroke or other chronic illness can derail things. Exercise and a healthy life style are done to prevent these things.

I see people at aerobics class with stroke and massive extra weight, starting exercise at 60+  with lots of difficulties. I often wonder, why did they allow themselves to put on so much weight ?

A guy in my class is 90, with a stroke. His aerobics is from a wheelchair and he reminds me of Gilly. Not that Gilly is 90, when we all know he is Freedom55.

Na, I was young and had to line up for food items.

1.  1970?

2.  1971?

3.  Indos

No's 1 & 2 may not be correct,much later than those years.

Guyana was booming in those years.

Isn't it fascinating how people reminisce on those sad days when human beings were deprived of the basic necessities of life?  And those same people who ran away from their own country are now glorifying the PNC and running after them like a dog chasing after a bone.  What manner of humans are you?

I think so too. Early 80's I've been lining up for bread and kero. But for sure the indos profited well. Boatloads of contraband came in from suriname. Ask that chap from Annandale, he know the runnings.

Thanks Shiek

around 82,in the early 80's Guyana was heading in to a financial crisis, then the items was banned.

The banning was before the financial crisis. It was part of the FCH drive to create demand for local products and started in the 70's

I left Guyana in the early 80's and guys like Buch Parmanand was already big fish in the trade.

The best person to answer is Chief as he was a smuggler!
