It's all over the news that MP Manickchand FAKED her ASSAULT. Today, she is all smiling in parliament. This sets a bad example for the PPP in troubled times.
MP Broome took up the RAPING suggestion seriously and its making waves in the news. Another blunder for the PPP.
beat chest and cry
the lady is a drama queen the ppp is such a waste they need to recruit from GNI
I notice Indians jump in the PPP defense for personal reasons when they see crocodile tears coming from a woman MP, who learned the ropes from crooks to fake her sorrow in public for sympathy. No one thinks about the backlash on the day after.

I don't get the rape chant....

All of this put the PPP in a shimmering light.

Now this is pathetic. The opposition had a chance to make the govt look bad with the secrecy regarding the oil bonus but nahhh some of them are not satisfied, this dam oink oink again showed what she is made of and once again makes the PPP look bad. I have said it many times, these folk have got to be tossed out of the PPP in order for it to survive as a proper opposition to the Granger govt. to keep them on the straight and narrow. It will not happen with people like oink oink in place, it is a pathetic joke.

If she is disgusting what would say about Volda Lawrence and the brazen-faced Amna Ally?

Did their party lose because of them? No, but Priya's did and her actions did not go unchecked.

Prince,
If, and I say if Manickchand was not man handled by the police, as she claims, then shame on her. This was the woman who cussed down the American ambassador in his house. I could not see any point on the video where she was assaulted by the police (maybe others have).
What this tells me also is that Guyana has too many drama queens. Her crying on national media only reinforces the stereotype of the Indian playing the role of victimhood. Its not a good image, especially if she is lying.
My take on the Edghehill issue is th t he should have never refused the Speaker's order. If they wanted to protest, all of the PPP members should have walked out with the Bishop. This would have avoided the ruckus that followed. This is not how parliamentarians behave.
As for the cry of rape, I would like to know who was yelling (it was a man's voice). It was uncalled for. Ms Broomes is also being a drama queen in her statement above.
Having said this also...I dont think the police should have been dragged into the matter. All the Speaker had to do was to adjourn until the behavior is corrected by the MP in question.
Vish,
Fair assessment of the ruckus in Parliament.

Good point and excellent observation - VishMahabir.
I will not knock PPP for protesting...but if Priya pretended...that's really terrible
PPP needs to step up their game to keep PNC in check...

With what degree of certainty do tou say that the PPP lost because if Priya, if that is what you meant?
complexity theory informs us that in large organizations, failure is never attributed to a single factor, but to a multiplicity of factors.
I know that you have attributed the PPP loss to other factors. But in this post, you seem to be saying something else.
DEAR Members of Parliament and Opposition Leader Bharat Jagdeo, I will be addressing the issue of the use of the word "RAPE" yelled by your representatives Hon. Cornel Damon and Neil Kumar, PPP/C Members of Parliament.
On behalf of all the women in Guyana and all Guyanese women abroad, a public apology should be made to all women who understand, knows fully well and feel the pain of the word RAPE. If these two are REAL MEN I would be hearing an apology in the coming days. RIGHT FELLAS?
The use of this word "rape" casually to describe anything other than the "act of sexual violence" is not only inappropriately used but extremely irresponsible by our menfolk. Forget which party they belong to....simply IRRESPONSIBLE FELLAS.
Do any of these men realize what women are feeling seeing these two using this word rape out of context?
Well, let me educate some of you. It is not only uncomfortable hearing it but it can trigger flashbacks for survivors. It can make them angry, feel unsafe and ashamed. Yes, it's like being violated all over again.
Can Neil Kumar or Cornel Damon tell me if they have ever been raped?
NOTE WELL: RAPE IS A CRIME AND IT HAS MANY FACES. ALL THE WOMEN RAPED N SEXUALLY ASSAULTED BY SOME OF YOU MEN THAT MIGHT BE SITTING AT THAT TABLE...I am only hoping my voice along with many others SOUND OFF and begin to call YOU ALL OUT. It's time for some Rape cleansing from political groups.
Maybe it's time the women come together n prepare for the next elections.

Definitely nobody was physically raped in parliament yesterday. However, it is fair to say that under the Granger regime there is rape of democracy and transparent governance.

I thought the same when the word was shouted.Ganga P. became a bad boy he pushed the policeman,in his early days he was quiet.
Me thinks it sounds out of line.

Do you think the PPP lacks the maturity that is needed to be in government? Granger, on the other hand, surrounded himself with mature individuals. There is a stark contrast between the PNC and PPP. Anil Nandlall, former AG should have advised the party members to avoid certain controversies, but he did not. He is another pup for an excuse.
In a time of disaster, some funny bone will come along and make you want to laugh. Perhaps, it's a good way to forget about your sorrow and think positive. Django, "wah you mean all the rice done?" Owe bhai, she is a coolie man data, she must love she lil chaure.

The whole commotion was done in the presence of the media for all to analyze and judge for themselves.
You started a thread to lambast the victims. The speaker was bias, he acted as though he represented the PNC in parliament, it was total abuse of power. The important issue is not Priya pretending, but WHO called the police in parliament? and if not question the police ,why they were there? There are certain protocol that necessitates the police presence in parliament, and that was not one.Parliament is the People's House and not to entertain the Army or police to assault elected MP.

Are you here to abuse me for the speaker's decision, or to discuss what had happened yesterday? Even If I knew the speaker was biased, there is nothing you and I can do about it.

Please read your highlighted sentence, that's not abuse and the rest was my opinion.
The speaker only has authority in Parliament, he cannot legally suspend an MP when he is outside Parliament. So Juan Edgill had a right to enter parliament, the police did not have legal authority to arrest Edgill, the PPP will win this battle.
Bart hated Edghill because he is Afro who exposes corruption in this government. Black are not supposed to support the people of Guyana in their fight against blatant corruption and fraud. They must be harassed and silenced.

I watched the news video in its entirety and I am glad to see the people were given a chance to comment on the commotion yesterday. Some of us on GNI should listen to the people's views on what had transpired in parliament before sounding off. From all indication, Juan Edghill should have obeyed the speaker's order and avoid the aftermath. Priya Manickchand alleged "police harassment" claim is not sitting well in the public eyes, either.
It was not Rape but Sexual assault.

With all due respect you might have to swallow your words one day. She might be president one day, food for thought. There is a word called 'EMPATHY' - putting yourself in someone else's shoes.

I wonder what would be Prince's response is someone wrongfully kicked and punched a female member of his family ? Will empathy be shown ?
Just asking.

What a hypocrite ! This ugly dishonest bitch chooses to discuss rape while the constitution is being violated by the K-K-Hole who was entrusted with the mace of the parliament ! This bitch must have been temporarily blind when the pro-government speaker attempted to eject an elected member of the PPP ! How shameless can these thieving PNC goons be !! Broomes chose to discuss 'rape' in a literal sense but does not address the action of the speaker who ejected a legally elected MP ! How low will these thieving, dishonest shitheads stoop ?
