US police investigating a body floating in a river were stunned to discover it was actually just a man having an afternoon nap. Authorities rushed to the river in a small town in Pennsylvania last week after people reporting seeing a body floating face-up wearing a life vest. But just as they prepared to enter the water, the body suddenly sat up. Witness Matthew Kranz said: "We were standing here talking … all of a sudden he sat up, and apparently wasn’t dead." "I said, 'it's a miracle! It's great!'," said Police Captain Michael Orwig, who was also at the scene. The suspected drowning victim, Joseph DeAngelo, said he had been oblivious to all the fuss and had simply fallen asleep. "It was like laying on a cloud," he said. "Sorry I hindered anybody." Mr DeAngelo said he had been going to that part of the river to cool off for years.
