Patrick Barrington obituary
Tina Prashad, unfortunately, I have no idea. I don't recall discussing politics with Patrick. Whereas Hanna was very articulate about her support of communism (although I don't remember her mentioning the PPP or Guyana for that matter). I'm sorry I can't shed light on this. [ more ]
Prashad Tina I saw a bunch of photos of PPP leaders and the couple in London. Was this couple associated with the PPP? [ more ]
Tina I met Patrick a number of times in the late '70s when, as a student, I worked for Hanna (a family friend) in her Clapham wine bar. My happiest memories were not of the wine bar, but of sitting in their kitchen and chatting with Patrick about this and that - he was delightful, warm and interesting, and an island of calm in what felt to me like a pretty crazy place (good crazy!). I had no idea until now what a fine artist he was. [ more ]

Mr. Baseman
cain The only mistake Fauci made was, standing too close to trump. [ more ]
Former Member Let's get some facts straight. Could Trump have handled this crisis better ? Yes Trump made a tongue in cheek comment for stupid Democrats to die off. Each state is individually controlled and has their own policies. Did Fauchi make mistakes ? Yes he did This is a much bigger problem than it appears to be. [ more ]

Jagdeo puts oil traders on notice
Baseman Exxon's decision has nothing to do with Guyana's politics. They have their business plan and will drill and keep to their plan. It's their only way of recouping their costs. How the Guyana part of the arrangement is handled is not of interest to them. Actually, not sure why Jagdeo put anyone on notice. The Traders are just that. He should focus on what happens to the proceeds. He's picking wrong battles. [ more ]
Former Member Roch, who's the big and fat Liar now? [ more ]
Ramakant-P Jagdeo never prepares for a defeat. The whole world knows that the PPP won the election. Claudette would never jeopardize her principles and declare the PNC winner. Now I am telling you that the PNC would never come to power again. [ more ]

Nagamootoo embraces Burnham and repudiates Jagan – The Ultimate Betrayal

Prashad Seig you sum it up very good here. [ more ]
Former Member Facts: Many Indo-Guyanese on this forum are forgiven for embracing the PNC regime in 2015. Nagamootoo hasn't done anything different that he cannot be forgiven. There are Black supporters in the PPP and vice versa. Indo-Guyanese never learns that politics does not discriminate. Once again this shows how deep racism is and how shallow Indo-Guyanese understand politics. [ more ]

The Decline of Manufacturing in Guyana
Ramakant-P The National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL) Wednesday credited GuySuCo’s account with G$250,000,000. This sum represents a partial response from NICIL to GuySuCo’s request to the government for a ‘bailout,’ and brings the total disbursements to GuySuCo from July 2018 to date to $9,970,759,568; in addition to the close to 40 billion, it has received from the government. “NICIL wishes to remind GuySuCo that it should seek to resolve its financial challenges through... Former Member Indian indentureship ended in 1917. I have to track down the exact date. That date should be commemorated just like the abolition of slavery on August 1, 1834. [ more ]
Totaram A more appropriate word would probably be "commemorate". I remember my grandparents on May 5 in a special way by reflecting on their suffering and the life they dreamt about but never got. Like the writer I don't think Indian Arrival Day should be celebrated. [ more ]
