It is clear Assad is a dead man walking. There is no containing this conflict except to let that fire burns internally and disinfect it. The US and Turkey And Jordan and France and yes that sceptered isle will protect their interests....to see the weapons of mass destruction does not get into the hands of Jihadists.

Syria cannot function with Assad. He cannot use his phones or speak to his generals so his future is terminal. His best bet is a political solution to stop the carnage. He is a after all a dictator and an abdication of his status of dictator is a moral thing.
