Pavi, the Syrian army is a running joke in te Middle-East. It cannot do anything outside its borders. It's strength is its air defenses (bolstered by the Russians) and these are fixed and the US will take these out in the first half-hour.
Assad can RISK IT ALL for all he cares. It doesn't amount to a hill of beans.
