Continental Agency Limited employees concoct $1.2M robbery

Hours after claiming that they were held at gunpoint and relieved of $1.2 million, a driver and a porter of the Continental Group of Agencies confessed to being the mastermind behind the robbery.
The alleged robbery reportedly occurred at Crane Village, West Coast Demerara on Thursday evening at about 18:40h.
Initial reports stated that the two men were driving a distribution truck along the Crane Village Public Road when they were intercepted by a white Toyota Raum after which the three occupants held them at gunpoint and relieved them of money, a lap top computer, mobile phones and other personal belongings.
The men also claimed they were tied up and left on the roadway but was rescued by a passerby who in turn contacted the police. As police arrived on the scene and questioned the men, they realised something about the robbery was amiss, hence the men were taken into police custody.
As police continued to interrogate them on Friday morning, they admitted that they had planned the robbery. A police source told Guyana Times that the men confessed in contacting three associates and related the plan. The three men in the car were not armed, according to one of the men. He also stated that the drivers of both vehicles had arranged to stop at a particular location where the money bag would have been handed over.
After collecting the money, the car drove away. The police are now hunting the three other men involved in the botched robbery.
