Rose Hall man succumbs to gunshot injury

Three days after a Rose Hall, Corentyne, Berbice, man was shot and injured during an attempted robbery, he succumbed to a single gunshot injury to his abdomen on Friday evening. He died while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Twenty-one-year-old Saitanya Kishundyal of Rose Hall, Corentyne, was shot on Wednesday evening by a lone gunman while he was about to close the gate to his residence.
It was reported that the now dead man was confronted by the gunman and a scuffle ensued between them, during which he was shot once to the abdomen.
He was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital but was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted up to the time of his demise. The gunman has not yet been arrested.
A relative of Kishundyal confirmed that the man took his last breath at about 20:00h on Friday evening. She told media operatives that due to severe internal injuries, the doctors could not perform the necessary surgeries that were needed.
The woman stated that although the surveillance footage of the shooting was presented to the Police, they are yet to positively identify the shooter and his accomplices. Now that the young man is dead, the family feels they will get no justice.
At the time of the shooting, the young man had just returned home from a religious function. The Police are continuing their investigations.
