I am not sure what the constitution says on this...

Let's go back to the 2011 elections.

The People's National Congress Reform [PNCR] formed a pre-election alliance with the Working People's Alliance [WPA], Guyana Action Party [GAP], National Front Alliance [NFA], Justice for All Party [JFAP] and five other groups.

They contested the elections as A Partnership for National Unity [APNU] with an agreed-upon presidential candidate David Granger and prime ministerial candidate Dr Rupert Roopnarine, and with a hand as ballot symbol.

If all goes as planned, APNU will form a pre-election alliance with the Alliance for Change [AFC] with an agreed-upon presidential candidate and prime ministerial candidate. They will also have to agree on a name for the new alliance and a common symbol for the ballot paper.

And, just as the APNU alliance won 26 seats and entered parliament as APNU, the forthcoming alliance will go to the next parliament with whatever number of seats it wins under its new name.
