Reply to "Incompetent GECOM"

How wonderful Guyana would be if the PNC would learn to live by the rules of the game. In all elections conducted while the PPP were the government, elections were held within the required 90 days margin with the exception of 2006 where an abnormal condition existed. For 2006, the window was extended to 120 days with the support of the then PNC opposition. If only the PNC had tried during their 60+ years history to live by the law.

"On the other hand, Act 24 of 2006, titled the Constitution (Amendment) Act 2006, had one single amendment as follows: “In relation to the Eighth Parliament, article 61 shall have effect as if for the words ‘three months’ the words ‘four months’ were substituted.” In other words, in the heat of a crime wave, and with numerous amendments to the two main election laws, only a one month extension was needed by GECOM for the holding of elections. The then opposition commissioners on GECOM at the time were Robert Williams, Lloyd Joseph and Haslyn Parris."

GECOM also have the challenge of proving that the same list that they rolled out for the November 2018 LGE is suddenly not accurate in December 2018 for G&RE.
