Legally, Guysuco does not own the lands. The lands were nationalized by the Burnham Government with the instigation of Chedi Jagan. The Government never paid any compensation so, technically speaking the land is still owned by Bookers. As a matter of fact, the lands were taken by force from the Amerindians.
