It is not only a dropped suicide rate they are upset about. Its a natural instinct to be negative about something they don't support, with THEIR government.
Even though this is not a government effort, they will have high praises for suicide reduction, if their government is in office.
Racism is one problem in Guyana and a political divide is another . A progressive flow do not take place from one government to the next and all Guyanese lose.
Trump is a good example and the government after his, might spend their entire term undoing what he destroy.

It's interesting to note that the article made no mention of the PPP nor the PNC regimes.
