Why the need for celebration? I think it is a false perception in the hope to be recognized. The Afro-American of the 1920's combatted their White Racists by seeking the American Negro to demonstrate their purpose in life in an honoring way.

The American slave, when interviewed, was asked about being owned by the White Planter. His reply, "he think he owns me, but I know he is a slave to immoral acts. He just cannot help himself."
