Let's think about a share of government between the PPP and PNC. The president and Prime Minister change every two years.

Shared government between the PPP and PNC were almost ready by discussions between Cheddi Jagan and Forbes Burnham in 1984/1985.

However, Burnham died in 1985 and the new leadership of the PNC did not pursue the issues.

While a merger between the PPPC and PNCR would be a good approach; there will be numerous individuals who would leave both parties to either form other party/parties or perhaps retire from politics.
