The PNC had a plan to build a railway track from Makenzie to Lethem along the Linden Lethem Highway. That would have been fantastic.

There were railway lines from MacKenzie to Ituni which specifically provided transportation for employees of Demba - Demerara Bauxite Company - who lived in the MacKenzie, Wismar and Christianburg areas and worked daily in the Ituni area.

These railway lines operated from 1946 to 1982.
