Ramona Ramoutar, left, and Daniella Sinanan were arrested on soliciting prostitution charges in Boynton Beach, Florida on Tuesday.

BOYNTON BEACH-A Trinidadian woman and her daughter have been arrested in a prostitution investigation in Florida. Boynton Beach police say the two were offering a “two-for-one special.”

Ramona Ramoutar, 42, and Daniella Sinanan, 24, were arrested on Tuesday on soliciting prostitution charges, according to police. According to a police report, the women placed an advertisement in the adult escort section of Backpage.com. The ad stated Jazmine and Angel were waiting in Boynton Beach to “rock your world” with “two-for-one specials.” The investigation was sparked after Boynton Beach Police said they received complaints from neighbours about possible illegal activity.

A Boynton Beach traffic unit worked the investigation because the complaint was made directly to them. “It allowed officers who normally work traffic-related incidents an opportunity to focus on another facet of law enforcement,” police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said in a release. Over the course of the investigation, officers said they observed several suspected “Johns” come and go from the mother and daughter apartment.

On July 18, officers stopped a suspected “John” after he left the apartment. The man admitted to officers he paid $100 for sex with Ramoutar and Sinanan, police said. On July 24, an undercover officer called the phone number on the Backpage.com advertisement and arranged to meet with Jazmine and Angel the following day, according to the police report.

Police say on July 25, the undercover officer went to Ramoutar and Sinanan’s apartment and was offered the “two-for-one special” for $150. The officer gave Ramoutar $100 and said he had to go back to his car to get the other $50. Officers then went into the apartment and arrested Ramoutar and Sinanan. The mother and daughter were charged with solicitation of prostitution as well as possession of drug paraphernalia because officers said they found a glass pipe and needles in the apartment. After their arrests the women, originally from San Fernando, were advised not to continue their prostitution and that Boynton Beach Police would be checking on them.

However, after a few weeks authorities said officers received several complaints the women were still having sex for money out of their apartment. An undercover officer then set up another meeting with Jazmine and Angel. A deal was made, stating both the mother and daughter would have sex with the undercover officer for $160, according to the police report. The women backed out just before the officer arrived. Despite the cancellation officers contacted the suspects and arrested them. Police said the two women admitted to “running a house of ill-repute and having sex for money,” out of their Savannah Lakes apartment. The mother and daughter were again charged with solicitation of prostitution and taken to the Palm Beach county jail.

    Accused mother-daughter prostitutes

say clients get no sex, just rubdowns

A Boynton Beach mother and daughter accused of prostitution tell their side of the story.

BOYNTON BEACH A mother and daughter who made national news after promoting 2-for-1 prostitution deals online told the Sun Sentinel they did not have sex with clients.

Ramona Ramoutar, 43, and her daughter, Daniella Sinanan, 24, say they were unjustly targeted by police. The women, police say, had placed ads on the Backpage.com website, trumpeting a ''2-for-1" special.

Arrested by Boynton Beach police Aug. 6, the pair have been featured on national websites and were the butt of a joke by Jay Leno on a recent "Tonight Show" episode.

The women say they are misunderstood. They provided nothing more than suggestive dances, conversation and rubdowns for their clients, they told the newspaper.

"We tell them to put a condom on once they get themselves comfortable, and to keep their undershorts on because we don't touch [sexually]," said Ramoutar.

"This is what the police fail to realize," Sinanan added. "They think that just because you're on Backpage, you are a prostitute and you have sex with everybody. I'm sure millions of girls do that, but we don't do that."

The Aug. 6 arrest was the second time in under two weeks that Boynton Beach officers visited the pair, police said. On July 25, officers set up a fake date and then took Ramoutar and Sinanan into custody. Police released them after they agreed to do two things in exchange for not having charges filed against them: cooperate in ongoing narcotics investigations and pledge to stop servicing clients.

Both women acknowledged the agreement and accused officers of going back on their word by arresting them Aug. 6 in a second bust.

Cops, however, said Ramoutar and Sinanan kept seeing men at their apartment in the 400 block of Savannah Lakes Drive after July 25. Officers said they spoke to clients exiting the apartment.

"Two of the people who we stopped were married men who said they had sex with the people in the apartment," said Sgt. Rich McNevin of Boynton Beach police.

In the front room of the Savannah Lakes apartment Monday, the walls were mostly bare and there was little furniture or decorative touches. Ramoutar and Sinanan, both wearing short shorts, smoked cigarettes while discussing their recent legal troubles. The blinds were closed and Ramoutar had locked the door.

They said they've only been running the home-based "body rub parlor" for four months. They said their 2-for-1 rate was about $150, or $75 each.

Health issues prevent them from working legitimate jobs, they said.

Sinanan, showing a patchwork of scars on her stomach from what she says have been 28 surgeries, said she suffers from superior mesenteric artery syndrome, a disorder of the digestive system.

They decided to try advertising on Backpage.com after hearing about the site from a friend, they said.

"No, I'm not proud," Ramoutar said, adding that an 81-year-old local attorney takes care of her financially and is often at the apartment. That man is not charged with anything.

Asked what she thinks of her daughter's involvement in their Backpage-fueled activities, Ramoutar said she is the only one who touches the clients.

"I have no hard feelings about that because you know why? She don't touch anybody," Ramoutar said.

"The only reason we advertise the 2-for-1 special is when they come [to the apartment], we're both going into the room and [we're] together but it's only her hands on them," Sinanan added. "I'm just there talking to them, having a conversation with them, you know what I mean?" The pair have a combative history with each other, according to arrest reports. Between July 2011 and July 2012, the mother and daughter fought each other six times, Boca Raton police arrest reports say.

In one case, Ramoutar allegedly kicked down Sinanan's bedroom door and threatened her daughter with a butcher knife. Sinanan allegedly bit her mother on other occasions. Other scraps involved hair pulling, arguments over pills, and Ramoutar allegedly straddling her daughter while beating her and giving her a bloody nose, according to arrest reports.

Ramoutar and Sinanan are each now charged with one misdemeanor count of solicitation of prostitution.
