TK, I'm not sure I understand your question correctly. Burnham had practising pandit supporters in the Guyana Pandits' Council and the Maha Sabha. It was reported in the state-owned Chronicle that some Pandits' Council official had called Burnham a Mahatma. No joke.

Burnham was always a Methodist. As a Machiavellian he used his power in a calculating way to give Hindu and Muslim holidays as a means to secure support from those two communities.
