The Indian Himalayan Region is a mountain range that spans across ten states of India namely, Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura as well as the hill regions of two states – Assam and West Bengal. The region is the major source for many rives, providing water to a large part of the Indian subcontinent and contains varied flora and fauna. It is also the home of massive mountain system that includes the Karakoram, the Hindu Kush, and other lesser ranges that extend out from the Pamir Knot.

The average temperature of the region in winters remains almost -15 to -20 during daytime and -25 to -30 during night.

3. The Striking Stok Kangri Trek:

Stok Kangri, the shapely Ladakhi capital of Leh, is prominent mountain range on the southern lane. Ladakh is the most remote region of India, a desolate, almost rainless region which lies north of the Himalayas and area known geologically as the Tibetan plateau. Trekking in Ladakh is the most gratifying and fantastic opportunity due to its high altitude terrains.

Leh, the capital city and administrative capital of the Ladakh district offers ancient monasteries, colorful markets, deserted royal palace and interesting Hindu and Buddhist encounters. 4. The Glorious Goecha La Trek:

Goecha La is a high mountain pass in Sikkim, in the Himalaya range towards the southeast face of Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest mountain. The virtual road ends at an altitude of 1770 meters from where the trek to Goecha La starts in Yuksom. Sachen, Bakkhim, Tshoka, Phedang, Dzongri, Kokchurong, Thansing and Lamuney are the vital places to look out for. The trek proceeds through dense verdant forest, entering bugyals, and ends in rocky terrain. The trek is highlighted by the presence of rhododendrons of various colors during the month of May.

5. The holy Kinner Kailash Circuit Trek:

Trekking in Kinner is the optimum venture in Himacahl Pradesh. Kinner, bounded by the Tibet to the east in the northeast corner of Himachal Pradesh, is an elegant district that embraces three of the world’s majestic mountain ranges – the Zanskar, the Greater Himalaya and the Dhauladhar. Mount Kinnaur Kailash has religious connotation for a massive “SHIVA LINGAM”- the symbol of Lord Shiva which is a 79 feet vertical rock formation and considered one of the mythical abodes of Lord Shiva. In the ancient mythology, the inhabitants of Kinnaur are known as Kinners, the halfway between men and gods. Thousands year old monasteries still exist in the area.

6. Pin Parvati Valley – Discovering The Valley of Gods:

The awe-inspiring journey from High altitude Deserts to the flourishing greenery and monsoon swept slopes of the Himalayan foothills was discovered in 19th century by an English explorer. The Pin Parvati Valley, also known as ‘Valley of Gods’, is cuddled up between the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges, and is located in the cold desert region of the Spiti valley. The trek passes through lush pine forests, wild flowers and dramatic barren landscape. This region is covered with heavy snow for most of the year. The path to the pass is tough not just because of the altitude but also since it involves a long journey beyond habitation.

7. The Serene HemKund & Valley of Flowers:

The beautiful valley situated at an altitude of 3650m is the ecstasy of nature lovers. As suggested by its name, the valley is exceptionally affluent in its extensive variety of flowers. River Pushpawati gushes through the lush valley that teems with. It is said that there are about 520 species of flowering plants and hence this place was declared a national Park in 1982. The animals such as Himalayan black bears, Musk deer, Brown bears, and a rich diversity of birds and butterflies are found in abundance. The sacred lake of Hemkund, a significant pilgrimage of Sikhs and Hindus, lies near the Valley of Flowers. The blissfully looking holy Gurdwara near the lake’s edge is visited by large number of pilgrims from all over the world.

8. Tranquility at the feet of river Ganges – Gangotri- Gaumukh- Tapoban:

The sanctified river Ganges is the most sacred river in the Hindu religion and its source is at Gomukh on the Gangotri glacier. Gomukh is one of the holiest places for Hindus and people across the world come here to witness the birth of Mother Ganga. The trek takes you to Gomukh which literary means cows mouth, the legendary source of the River Ganges. This peaceful and surreal land offers spectacular vista of Mt. Shivling and the Bhagirathi group of mountains, and can be reached after an 18 km trek from Gangotri.

9. Boundless Nanda Devi Expedition:

Nanda Devi, the second highest peak in the Indian Himalayas, is boasted to have one of the most beautiful peaks in the world. Nanda Devi, that holy mountain, second only in holiness to Kailas, the abode of the Gods, is one of the most important commercial centers with bustling society inclined to Tibetan culture. The Nanda Devi Sanctuary located in the Garhwal Himalayas is surrounded by the ashen snow-clad mountains. Ronti, Nanda-Devi, Nanda-Ghunti and Bethartoli Himal, Hanuman are mountains in the vicinity.

10. Kafni Glacier -The hidden gem of Himalaya:

The picturesque beauty and the harmony prevailing in the vicinity of Kafni Glacierare supremely charming. The Kafni Glacier lies left of the Pindar Valley south of the famous peak of Nanda Kot. Kaphini Glacier is 12 km from Dwali via Byali Udiyar, which is at a distance of 8 km from Dwali. Nandakot and Nandabhnar are the main Himalayan summits visible from the glacier. This glacier is an abode of diversely rich flora and fauna.
