The Indian Himalayan Region is a mountain range that spans across ten states of India namely, Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura as well as the hill regions of two states – Assam and West Bengal. The region is the major source for many rives, providing water to a large part of the Indian subcontinent and contains varied flora and fauna. It is also the home of massive mountain system that includes the Karakoram, the Hindu Kush, and other lesser ranges that extend out from the Pamir Knot.
