PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -

A 19-year-old man was arrested last week after he stole 96 guns from a home in Pembroke Pines, police said.

Jesus Regueiro faces one count of armed burglary. He appeared in court Tuesday, where a Broward County judge ordered that he be held in jail without bond.

According to an arrest report, Regueiro's grandmother called police on Sept. 17 after she saw a man handing Regueiro large plastic containers over her fence that contained numerous revolvers and automatic handguns.

Police said the woman heard Regueiro refer to the other man as "Tito."

Regueiro then fled the scene in his grandmother's car, which was pulled over on University Drive and Taft Street, police said. The woman told officers that she did not want to prosecute for the car theft.

According to the report, another stolen vehicle was found parked in front of Regueiro's home in Hollywood.

Police said officers noticed a window had been left ajar in Regueiro's efficiency and saw a Louis Vuitton shopping bag that contained five to six handguns.

A search warrant was obtained by police and 55 guns and 20 empty handgun boxes were found inside.

Police said that on Sept. 23 the victim provided a sworn statement to detectives and a list of the 96 handguns that were stolen from his residence along with the models and serial numbers.

Police said 55 of the victim's guns were recovered.

The victim told detectives that five large plastic containers containing the guns and jewelry were stolen from his home. He said his total loss was about $60,000.

Regueiro was then arrested and taken to the Broward County Jail. He did not provide a statement to detectives, the report said.

Regueiro was previously arrested on similar charges in Davie a few weeks ago.

Anyone with information about the identity of the accomplice involved in the burglary is asked to call Pembroke Pines police at 954-431-2200 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
