You love welfare eh!
The reality is that if you sell something at a price lower than the cost of production your product is being subsidized. In this case it is the government subsidizing sugar and the subsidy goes mainly to foreign buyers. However, there is a counter argument that sugar is so big in Guyana that the subsidies are justifiable and ensure employment etc. However, is that what is happening currently? Billions are being poured into estates that have not rehired retrenched workers. It appears as if many of those workers have moved on. This being the case what would be the PPP's argument? The only logical solution is for GUYSUCO to become more efficient while looking at new products. Is the management of the company and their political masters capable of envisioning a process that gets them there? So far, they have done nothing to inspire confidence.

Well, Tota, Singh is singing the kind of song they want to hear! He doesn't care if the PPP government has to subsidize the industry! Singh is looking out for Singh! Can't blame him! Maybe when they settle down to start stealng, they won't be looking at his helping himself, too! Jagdeo pushing this gas thing will afford lots of opportunities for siphoning off some of the costs! $200 to $500 million, huh? Lots of opportunites for padding the bills! With 'valid' explanations, of course! And don't forget coolies are smarter thieves than hungry belly black man! Anus will provide legit reasons, I'm sure!
Is the supply of gas going to outlast Jagdeo? Or is he going to take his gains and run?
There you go! GUYSUCO is being risen from the ashes. Only a great man can do that.
