$25,000 fine for Head Teacher who touched child’s penis
Head Teacher of ABC Academy School was on Wednesday fined $25,000 by City Magistrate Faith McGusty after he was found guilty of unlawfully assaulting a former student of the school.
Arthur Bernard Chandra, also known as ‘Sir Chandra’, of 23 Abary Street, Bel Air Park had appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, where it was revealed that on January 12, 2015 he assaulted a 7- year – old male at the New Market Street School.
Police Prosecutor, Sean Blackman detailed to the court that the young victim and another student were fighting in the classroom; the Head Teacher was informed of the incident and as a means of punishing the child, Chandra held onto the victim’s penis in front of the classroom and threatened to ensure it [penis] doesn’t work again.
Chandra was fined of $25,000 and sentenced to undergo six months of counseling or two months imprisonment in default.
