NSC fuels Mr. Guyana in CAC medal bid The National Sports Commission (NSC) through Director of Sport Christopher Jones has further fuelled Mr. Guyana Kerwyn Clarke in his bid to flex his way to the gold medal at this weekendβs 44th Central American and Caribbean Body Building and Fitness Federation Championships which is all set for Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
Jones, in handing over the NSCβs contribution to Clarke and conveying best wishes on behalf of the Sports Minister and Ministry, informed him that this nation is rallying behind him and the other Guyanese athletes who will be vying for top honours.
The NSC boss noted that body builders and athletes on the whole have to display a high level of discipline in bringing their bodies to a competitive level.
βIn this year of our Golden Jubilee we are backing you and the other athletes to turn in golden performances. We know that you have all trained hard towards making your bodies ready for this challenge on the weekend. We will always support and invest in our athletes as you are a vital part of this nation.β
Clarke, a two-time CAC bronze medalist and four-time Mr. Guyana, conveyed thanks to Jones and Minister Nicolette Henry for their support whilst promising that himself and the others will be giving of their best in order to become victorious.
The reigning Mr Guyana would be taking aiming to gain the nod of the judges in Fridayβs semi finals in the middleweight (165 -176lbs) division before conquering his opposition in Saturday nightβs final.
Clarke commented: βI have made general improvements to my physique and I am happy with the symmetry and balance that I now sport. Hence, to the best of my ability I would display to the panel of judges that I have a well put together and total package.β
Some 24 countries have already confirmed that they will be competing including Guyana and the host nation.
The others are Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Bonaire, Costa Rica, Curaçao, El Salvador, Grenada, Guadalupe, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Martin / St. Maarten, Trinidad & Tobago, Venezuela and the United States Virgin Islands.
