The Islamic Development Bank is quite generous to the Republic of Guyana.  It is my fervent hope that  large sum of money,  from such an intuition,  would only help to bring about some positive and much needed improvements to such an impoverished nation.   Guyana is in desperate need of help, but the persons controlling the purse strings, in Guyana, should be carefully monitored.  There is a tremendous need for more transparency  on how monies are being spent.

Don't count your eggs before they are hatched. How soon is "soon"? Do you really know? 2020? 2030? 2040?

Loans by itself does not solve the economic problems of a country. Think about the huge amounts of loans Guyana received from the U.S. from 1965 to 1975 and the country's economy still deteriorated.  In terms of economic progress the government does not have much to brag about. The economy has been declining gradually over the last three years and people are feeling the squeeze from loss of jobs, higher taxes, wage freeze, inflation, and surge in crime. What can the government do besides telling them there is no need to worry since billions will be earned from oil exports?  People are reading between the lines very well no matter how good of a propagandist they employ.

All politicians are thieves. When either party is in opposition they tend to keep a keen eye on the leading thief of the day. This should not be surprising to folks who follow politics. Let me say this for the record that Amaila Hydro-Power project would have cost Guyana US$850M when completed. A Grand undertaking on infrastructure development will cost the Guyanese nation more than US$900M at this stage.
