Voter turn out has been declining. It went up a bit with the excitement of the coalition government, but now that people see that the PPP/PNC disease still afflicts Guyana I expect 2020 turnout to decline to the usual 60-70 levels that we have been seeing since the 2000s.
And they are the original people of the land so they have the most credibility to the name Guyanese.
They don't as the concept of Guyana is one that has its origins in its colonial history. Amerindians as a group represent several sub ethnic groups and that is how they identify. When the Dutch arrived they interrupted the previous battles that the Amerindians waged against each other.
In addition some of the Amerindian groups that are present in Guyana today weren't historically connected to this territory. They arrived fleeing either other Amerindian groups, or late slavers from Spanish and Portuguese speaking regions.
And they are the original people of the land so they have the most credibility to the name Guyanese.

I read about your party in another post. Not a bad idea. It is time that Guyanese take back their country from the parties that keep pawning them, over and over and over again.
1. I will legalise 'erb...taxes from the sale of the sweet leaf will go toward Education and Health for ALL Guyanese. No one knows more about 'erb than yours truly..I am the best of knowing stuff..I don't even have to read up I just know stuff aright?
2. I will oulaw the word "Prostitute" and instead apply "Bang Contractors" to the ladies/men/others of the night/day/evening. Again, I know lots more of these poor workers than most..more than most...lots..and when I say lots I mean lots more than most.
3. I will make it illegal to drive a vehicle below the speed limit...yes, below the speed limit, not above....but, below. If this is not someone's cup of tea, take da bus.
4. I will outlaw buses.

5. I will renegotiate the oil contract, Guyana receives 70% of whatever is extracted, (is we own) Exxon can purchase from us if they wish more. Half of oil revenues to be put toward the infrastructure, the other half toward more 'erb plants.
To show how inclusive I am I welcome D2 and Prash to join my party. Prash will even be given several acres to house his group, this way I could keep my eyes on them.
I would even invite D2 and Druggie to my govt to lead a Ministry within a Ministry of a Ministry in athletics.

Sorry, isn't he a multi-generation member of the ruling party in the last Govt? If they were that bad, then why not join the defectors? From this piece, is he saying the PPP was more criminal-oriented, while the PNC was just lost in bad policy?

The words from “The (APNU+AFC) government…” to the end of the paragraph were a quotation from a letter Mr Craig Sylvester had written to KN on Saturday last. I made that clear in my article and also made clear that I was criticizing Mr. Sylvester.

FACT: PNC and PPP are basically race-based parties.
So for over 55 years, despite emigration or the outflow of people who voted race, fresher batches of voters overwhelmingly vote race like those before them.
Coming to brass tacks, over 90 per cent of the electorate are happy and contented to vote race. This mindset is deeply rooted.
Will constitutional reform change the template or pattern? Gilbakka does not think so. You cannot legislate change of people's deeply rooted political behaviour patterns from the top.
Third parties always bring some excitement to the process but such excitement fizzles out sooner or later. Who is still excited with the AFC today?

Sounds good in theory but wouldn't bring about desired practical results. Which single president has stopped a policeman from demanding bribes, has eliminated electricity blackouts, has provided communities potable water 24/7, has markedly reduced youth unemployment, has eliminated maternity deaths in public hospitals, etc during his term of office? If a president with ambition for re-election couldn't accomplish those basic things, how could a rotational president warming his seat for a stipulated period accomplish them?

You don't seem to have faith in the leadership pool in the homeland. So we are up against it then! The long and short is we are stuck. I think the people are lax. They need to hold leaders to account. They are blinded by ethnic insecurity and the leadership selection process is flawed.

Yes, you got my drift. On the idea of rotational leadership in Guyana's politics, there are 2 precedents. The WPA has had rotational leaders since Rodney's death in 1980. The AFC has had rotational leaders from Day 1. As of this very moment, neither outfit looks attractive to the population.
