How so?
Lady: +$100 Cash+$70 Merchandise+$30 Cash -$100 Paid = +$100
Man: -$100 Cash-$70 Merchandise-$30 Cash +$100 Payment= -$100
all depends on the markup ratio
But as of now its 100 dollars
Well...I suspect 200 is incorrect...but how is 100 correct?

if someone pay you for stuff with money they stole from you, how can your loss be the exact amount stolen?
$0 loss, it was a wash.
It is simple. Let us assume that the man is a pnc supporter, that means he was selling stolen items, probably stolen from the same woman.

BTW, your math on the man is incorrect..
-130 + 100 = - 30
could be $30 then
She took 100.....took back 100 thus far no loss. She then receives 70 in goods with 30 change....70+30=100

Because the amount stolen was the total of merchandise and change. $70 Merch. plus $30 change.
Itâs a little over $100.. For the time she had the money, the man could have bought something else with the money and sold it, making a profit.
Also maybe opportunity cost can be applied here as well, for the lady. She could have chosen to do something differently with the money.

Is it -130+100 or -200+100? How did you get -130?
The purchase and changed doesn't matter. She only stole $100.
If the item cost $70 and he didn't return change, then his loss would be $70.
