SIXTEEN-year-old Angela Mc Allister of Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara was chopped to death by her 17-year-old boyfriend at his Diamond, East Bank Demerara home just after 14:00 hrs yesterday.
The Chronicle was informed that the teenagers got into an argument, and the young man got violent and began lashing and chopping the woman about her body with a cutlass.
Information reaching this organ suggested that when the male began attacking the female, she attempted to run, but he pursued her and inflict several other chops on her, which caused her to collapse and die in his yard.
When this publication arrived on the scene, the girl’s body could still be seen in the yard, even though police investigations had commenced.
The male teen who had, allegedly, carried out this act was taken into custody. It is unclear whether he had to be apprehended, or if he had awaited the arrival of the police to be taken into custody.
Yesterday’s chopping has brought to four the total number of chopping deaths over the past seven days. There have also been four hospitalisations. All the acts have been committed by men.
Last week Wednesday, a father chopped his two children to death and injured their mother at Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo. Richard Lord is still on the run, and is now on the police ‘Wanted’ list. The following night, another man attempted to murder his wife and three daughters in Sophia, Georgetown. He is also on the run, and is wanted by the police. Then, on Saturday, a man chopped his wife to death at Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, before ingesting a poisonous substance which later caused his demise.
The incidents have again brought out the voices of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, as well as those groups which deal with the interest of women and girls, and which advocate for their proper treatment at the hands of the men in their lives.
