RAMOTAR SPILL THE BEANS: AFC's Ramjattan introduced him to Ed Ahmad

The Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) has rejected claims by the Alliance for Change (AFC) that New York real estate guru Ed Ahmad, now embroiled in alleged mortgage fraud, is financing its campaign for the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a press conference, the PPP's presidential candidate and General Secretary, Donald Ramotar, deemed the AFC's claims as false and misleading and lashed out at the leader of the Alliance for Change, Khemraj Ramjattan, saying that he intentionally set out to attack the government.
Mr. Ramotar said he is not denying that he knows Ed Ahmad, but was introduced to him by Ramjattan who was full of praise for him. Mr Ramotar additionally admitted that Ahmad was part of the organizing team for the public meeting held at Club Tobago in New York earlier this year, but noted that it was organised by PPP supporters and not the PPP.
The party's presidential candidate also rejected an article published on the Demerara Waves website claiming that Ahmad is financing the party's campaign. The party stated that Ahmad could not be considered as part of its government structure.
