As part of Government’s plan to establish an age requirement for persons who sit on state boards, agencies and commissions, Hamilton Green will not be returned to the Board of Directors of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA).

Minister of State Joseph Harmon told a post-cabinet press briefing today that the life of the CH&PA board had been brought to end in and a new board will be appointed shortly.

He later clarified that this new board will not include the former Mayor of Georgetown who is over the age of 80.  Green was appointed as CH&PA Chairman last year.

“Government at the end of 2016 did a review of all boards and commission in this country which affect the life and livelihood of Guyanese people and considering age and the need for efficiency [as well as} the fact that there are younger competent persons. We believe that they ought to be given a chance. It is no disrespect and disregard to the work of these individuals [who held the posts] but we have to provide upward mobility within the system,’ Harmon explained.

The government had first revealed its intention to establish this age requirement when Justice Cecil Kennard was asked to resign from his post as Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority (PCA).

President David Granger yesterday explained that government’s decision to ask Kennard to step down had to be taken as government is paving the way for younger persons to take the lead.

Why would Greene want to work. He is already the ideological godfather of this anti-koolie squad that now rules over our East Indian Brothers and Sisters in Guyana Plus he also collecting several large pensions.
