Emergency docking of MV Bonasika to cost $50m

Cabinet has given its no-objection to a contract for the emergency docking of the MV Bonasika to the value of $49.9m. At a post-Cabinet media briefing yesterday at the Office of the President, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon advised that ‘no objections’ were granted to nine contracts in the areas of hinterland development, education, technology, health, and infrastructure. Other contracts given the green light include $16m for the procurement of warehouse rental for the e-governance unit. Also cleared were two contracts totaling $70m for the purchase of medical supplies for the GPHC. Also given the go ahead was $31.4m for the purchase of tractors, trailers and harrows for Amerindian villages. Rehabilitation of buildings at the University of Guyana to the tune $15.1m has also been green lighted.
