[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Ministry of the Presidency (MOP) has decided to conduct an investigation into the financial arrangements of the E-Governance Project and as such, Minister of State Joseph Harmon has instructed Project Manager Alexei Ramotar to proceed on administrative leave with immediate effect.

A press statement from MOP noted that Minister Harmon says this recent move is to ensure proper facilitation of these investigations. Ramotar is the son of former President, Donald Ramotar.

Earlier this month, Harmon and a team visited the project, where he instructed Government’s Adviser on E-Governance Floyd Levi, to “work closely” with Ramotar and the E-Government project.

The relationship between Harmon and the younger Ramotar got off on a rather rocky start, as the Minister of State had accused him of not turning up to work since the new APNU+AFC government took office.

However, Ramotar had denied these allegations, informing iNews that he hasn’t missed a single day at work since the new administration took over.

It is under Ramotar’s management of the project that 40% of the Fibre Optic Cable has been damaged and he admitted that it is now too expensive to fix.

Government is sending individuals immediately on administrative leave, some with up to 11 months.

Perhaps in the meantime, it is probably the intentions to replace then with the government's selected individuals.

I have no sympathy for incompetence and the apparent cronyism however, Govt should follow due process in firing the inept.

You cannot prosecute someone for incompetence.

While the PNC is heavily focused on exposing the previous gov't's incompetence they are coming up short with strong evidence to prove the level of corruption that they alleged existed. The economy was managed relatively well by the PPP when we consider the difficulties the gov't. had in parliament to pass budgets with the opposition holding a one seat advantage.  The witch-hunt by the PNC is creating problems for the entire country. Crime is at record level and confidence in the business is at all time low. Companies are laying off workers and gov't. is spending lavishly on luxury vehicles for ministers and other party hacks who are given position in government. A collapse is coming. Some can see it. Others are too naïve' to understand the reality that this country will be facing within the next three years.

In each of their exorbitant investigations to provide occupation for their_PNC colleagues, the bottom line is that PNC cum AFC will have nothing of substance but their ill perceived visions of unacceptable practices by the PPP/C.

Despite the recent statement by the Commissioner of Police, the true records show; when compared to previous ones; that crime had indeed increased under the PNC cum AFC administration.

In time, people will indeed "feel much more than the pinch" regarding the current government's inept actions.
