13 entered for feature with over $11M at stake
With just one day to go before the mega, 11th Annual Guyana Cup Horserace meeting, all is set for the big day with over 80 horses entered to compete.
Despite the bevy of events for the holiday season the Guyana Cup will be the event to beat with its massive $11M stakes which includes cash and trophies.
With thousands of overseas based Guyanese and visitors in the country for the holidays the venue is expected to be packed to capacity.
Organized once again by the by the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing Stables in collaboration with the Rising Sun Turf Club the activity is set for tomorrow at the Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park, West Coast, Berbice.
Nine races are carded for the day and a scintillating and action pack day of racing is anticipated.
Work has been complete on the venue with the track, stands, paddocks and other areas all be spruced up for the big day.
The feature C and lower event has some 13 entries racing for the coveted $2M and the Banks DIH Trophy from a whopping $4M package over 1800M. The event is expected to be a scorcher with horses such Princess Sheβs, Lady Budapest, Jack In My Style, the newly imported Veraβs Finally, Itβs My Choice, Brave Sky, Just Call Me Boss, Media Day, Golden Blue Echo, Settling Star, Honey Flow, Climate Change and Bridestone Corner in the running fans cannot ask for more.
There is the E & lower 1500m race for all imported and Guyana Bred 3 years and up and those rated E class and lower for a sumptuous $1.2M winnerβs purse.
This race has the likes of Red Rocket, Storm Bird, Release the Beast, Honey Flow, Climate Change, Fir in Line, Golden Blue Echo, Because I Say So and Red and Lovely in contention.
An explosive race is anticipated in the G2 and Lower event for only Guyana and West Indies Bred 3Yrs Old and older animals with Red Rocket, T&T, Isnβt She Charming, Witchipoo, Keep On Swinging, Quiet Dancer, Mid Night Blues and Cat Messiah looking to claw their way to victory and the $700,000 winners money and trophy.
The H3 & lower 7 furlongs race for Guyana and 4 years old West Indies bred horses has a $400,000 pay day over a distance of 1100m, The H2 and lower and 4 Yrs Old WI Bred Non β Earners, which is also open To All other Guyana and West Indies Bred 3Yrs Old & Up H2 & Lower Horses, will see among them β Got To Go, Itβs My Turn, Isnβt She Charming, Cat Messiah, Super Bowl, Bigman Boss, Quiet Dancer, Marry Ann and Bridal stone Corner as they compete for the $400,000 winners money and trophy.
The Zeneyatta Memorial Guyana Bred 3years old event has a competitive lineup that includes Puppy Tail, Seven Dust, Miss Olympic, Born To Dance, Governor, Ground Gyal, Princess Saria, Natural Beauty, Genuine Risk, Fresh Dancer, Lucky Lucky and King Stanley.
The other events are for animals classified 2 years old Guyana Bred horses will run over a similar 1100m distance with $350,000 the purse on offer for the winner.
The I1 and Lower class racehorses will look to cash in on the $300,000 first prize over 1100m. The J2 & K & Lower animals will be battling for a $250,000 purse, while the L& Lower non-winners will collide for a $200,000 winners take, both events also over 1100m.
A number of foreign and overseas based jockeys will be in action with all already in the country.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organizers and Trophy Stall.
