One of those teachers showed his paycheck on tv. It is just over a grand for two weeks of work. He said that he has to rely on food banks for food as he cannot live on his paycheck.

Yet, the rightwingers were complaining about the spending in the Omnibus. A 1.3 trillion bill where 700 billion went to the military. Imagine more than half went to the military when teachers are eating from food banks. Shameless.

Are local teachers in the federal budget?

So if I were to understand this, Fake News CNN is blaming a state problem on the Federal Government and somehow trying to blame it on Trump ?

Quote from the article:

"And in Oklahoma, protesters rallied for higher teacher and support staff raises, as well as increased funding for education -- which has plummeted by 28% over the past decade, the state teachers' union said".

This is not an overnight problem.

The most severely under paid profession are the Teachers. Trump and the Republicans can make it right.

that's a state issue.  they have great benefits and pension.

The same with the military, but you don't have to be educated to be a soldier.

According to Strump one needs to learn how fo shoot gun to become a teacher.

The Federal Government provides Education funding for the states through the Department of Education. There is also additional funding at the state level that is done via taxes from real estate and other sources. The US Federal Government can more than afford to cut military spending by a few billion and use it to improve our education system. Obama has been proposing this for years but the Republican Congress refused to cut back on defense spending because that's where they make a lot of pork for themselves and companies such as Halliburton and Bechtel.

Bai, whah wrang wid yuh. OK is a red state with Republicans running their state government. Given that Republicans detest public education, they are not inclined to fund it. So yes, it is a decade long problem but also a Republican installed problem. While we have a Republican governor, he understands that Florida is a swing state and since he is seeking a US Senate position come November, he just made the Bright Futures scholarship  permanent. That scholarship has put some 12+k in my daughter's bank account. Generally Republicans are always to shut down the Department of Education.
