Afc needs to be run out of every East Indian community in Guyana.

WITH the level of perceived divisiveness in society high, Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan said “a massive dose of unity is needed to carry the country forward. ”This was his message to the youths and people of Guyana following the youth arm of the Alliance For Change (AFC)’s Unity Walk yesterday, which saw a number persons taking to the streets of Georgetown.

Perhaps, the statement is a sudden reflection of this minister, who seems to be unaware of issues in Guyana.

Perceived?  Well more like deceived!!  How come his partners in crime in the PNC not part of it.  When last have he spoken to the many indians is all walks of life.  Does he know what's going on or pretending not to know!!

WITH the level of perceived divisiveness in society high, Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan said “a massive dose of unity is needed to carry the country forward.”This was his message to the youths and people of Guyana following the youth arm of the Alliance For Change (AFC)’s Unity Walk yesterday, which saw a number persons taking to the streets of Georgetown.

The walk commenced at the National Park and culminated at the Parade Ground, where the minister used the opportunity to note that, the multi-cultural and multi-racial group which gathered for the march is just an example of what needs to be portrayed in society.
He said, “The initiative by the Youth for Change is a welcome move and the theme unity walk is one which was strategically used, given that we are at a time when there is a lot of divisiveness in our society. Hence, we need as much social cohesion in our country as we can get.”
These comments were echoed by the many speakers such as, Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin; Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson; and Minister within the Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affairs, Valerie Garrido-Lowe along with other officials of government and members of the AFC.
Meanwhile, Director of Youth, Melissa Carmichael, stressed the fact that youths must step up and take control of their future. “Youths must stop waiting and get involved,” said Carmichael. Deputy Mayor Sherod Duncan also encouraged youths to be the best they can be, especially in their respective groups and roles. “Our country and politics have been divisive for so long…more work needs to be done to bring us together to work towards a common goal,” stressed Duncan.

Recent statements from the AFC about the disastrous state of distrust among our peoples and gov't. is an indication that race relations have retrogressed to a state not seen since the days of Forbes Burnham. The AFC is trying to stay alive by distancing itself from the PNC since the Guyana populace are now getting more frustrated with the government.

As it should be. The govt at times seem to go off course and they need to be pulled up. We should be glad about this move by the AFC, they speak for the people, perhaps this is a turning point for the AFC, dead meat is not in it's horizon as some had predicted.
