RCMP responded to a report of a shooting on the Lac La Ronge reserve Wednesday morning and found a man dead from a gunshot wound.

Police believe Natomagan, a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, was abducted by Jonas Budd, her stepfather.

He's considered a suspect in the shooting, is believed to be carrying a rifle and is considered dangerous, police said.

Police said they don't know where Budd might be headed, but he has connections in a number of Saskatchewan communities, including Cumberland House, Pinehouse, Sturgeon Landing and Prince Albert. He also has connections in Thompson, Man.

Natomagan was last seen just after 3 a.m. CST Wednesday at her residence.

Budd may be driving a grey, 2001 GMC Sierra 1500, extended cab, two-wheel drive pickup with Saskatchewan plate 043 JEZ, police said.

Police are asking anyone who sees Natomagan or Budd to call 911. However, Budd is not to be approached, police said.

The Saskatchwan girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert earlier today has been found safe, but police continue to search for the man they believe abducted the teen after fatally shooting a man at her home on the Lac La Ronge reserve.

RCMP responded to a report of a shooting on the Lac La Ronge reserve Wednesday morning and found a man dead from a gunshot wound.

Police believe the shooting happened before the 17-year-old girl was abducted from her La Ronge home, which is about 390 kilometres north of Saskatoon.

Police have identified the suspect they are looking for in the shooting and abduction as Jonas Budd, 43.

Police issued an Amber Alert, used in missing child cases, but about two hours later it was cancelled when the girl was located safe and sound by members of the Cranberry Portage RCMP detachment in Manitoba.

Investigators believe Budd fled on foot into the bush. He is believed to be armed with a rifle and is considered dangerous, police said.

Earlier in the day, police said Budd has connections in Thompson, Man., and a number of Saskatchewan communities, including Cumberland House, Pinehouse, Sturgeon Landing and Prince Albert.

At that time, they said he was likely driving a grey, 2001 GMC Sierra 1500, extended cab, two-wheel drive pickup with Saskatchewan plate 043 JEZ, police said.

Police are asking anyone who sees Budd to call 911, and not approach him.

Anyone with information can also call the Amber Alert phone line at 1-877-762-6237.
