A.  Current situation

1.  Members can link with others to review the comments made on threads; as provided by GNI's features.

B.  General

1. Due to GNI's recent upgrade, I waited for a while to review the new features.

2.  The choice to link and review posts by others caught my attention as an excellent one.

3.  Because individuals are online at various times, this is an excellent feature to locate specific posts within threads.

4.  On Tuesday, October 27, 2015; as a start; I randomly selected some individuals and though we may have diverse views, their posts are of interest to me.

5.  On Wednesday, October 28, 2015, Mars started a thread which escalated into an uncomfortable setting.

6.  Raymond provided comments on Mars' thread regarding GNI's approach / guidelines for the option.

7.  GNI's features are clear in that each person is notified of the action taken by the said individual.

C.  Recommendation

1.  Perhaps, a review for modification of the current approach.

2.  Perhaps also, there could be a feature for individuals to decline the option.

Demerara_Guy, I have read the above carefully.

I appreciate your taking the time to explain your Follow campaign.

Therefore, I hereby remove my objection to your Following my posts.

D_G, for me the matter is settled.

I wish I had the luxury of time to follow others here.

WARNING: You may sometimes encounter some hot farts ejected in your direction if you follow me too closely.

Here we go

There isn't a way for individual members to prevent other members from following them. You can make it so that only admins can follow people in the Member Settings control panel by checking the "Prevent anyone but admins from following other members" box.

They can disable notifications for when someone follows them in their notification setting.

I do not care one way or the other. I leave this up to Raymond and Sunil.

Hopefully, my last bit on this topic.

I believe it was a good discussion, that was clarified.

Thank you D_G for removing my name from your follow list.

Now I don't have to keep my carport light on, all night.

For those who are interested in finding out whether their posts are being followed......

Click the name of a poster and scroll to click FOLLOWING in their profile column, on the right. This also work for your own name.

Presently, one person is FOLLOWING 19 posters. I wish I have the time to monitor 19 persons on GNI, it will be a dull life indeed.

Just as an additional bit of privacy, remember that your members can also go into their profile settings and choose to hide their online status, hide their "likes," prevent dialogs from being sent to them, and hide their comment wall as well. I know that's not exactly what you were asking about, but it's in a similar vein, so I thought I'd throw it in there!
