Maybe because folks were quoting too much and taking up too much bandwidth. I saw some really really unnecessary lengthy quoting.

This reminds me of my parents warning me that when you have something good, don't abuse it because you may lose it.  

I've seen some forums that retain only the last previous post when you quote. Maybe we can see if this forum has that feature. While overusing the quote feature is not efficient, posting without quotes is equally undesirable.

The old way is fine if these knuckleheads just obey the rules. I warned you guys it will get out of hand if you to not warn them the first time. After a while I began to do the same as well because no one seem to care. But as amral said, it is a pain on the ass on a phone. I actually never use my phone to post.

It does not make sense to disable the "Reply with Quote" option because it would be difficult to follow a discussion since it is not live.  However, people need to cut out sections of long qoutes so that only the relevant sections are highlighted.

People using smartphones should try to reply without quotes if possible.

I've always copied the parts I answer to when quoting. Copying the whole thing has been a dumb idea for the lazy ones.

Frankly I am surprised that Amral did this without any warning or trying to get people to edit long quotes.  It make no sense to disable quotes on a "discussion " site.
