NEW YORK,  (Reuters) – Canadian teenager Bianca Andreescu beat Serena Williams 6-3 7-5 in the U.S. Open final today to claim her first Grand Slam title and stop the American’s bid to equal the all-time record.

The hard-hitting Andreescu matched Williams’ power throughout the slugfest and fended off a late comeback from the six-times U.S. Open champion to claim victory.

The 19-year-old dropped her racket after hitting a winner on match point to seal victory at Arthur Ashe Stadium and collapsed on her back after embracing her defeated opponent.

Andreescu, who becomes the first Canadian woman to win a major in the professional era, prevented Williams from equalling Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam singles titles.

Serena is still my best girl though. Her 23 grand slam titles did not come as cheaply as Margaret Court's 24 .

That said, congratulations to 19-year-old Canadian Bianca Andreescu.

I was not tolerant towards this LBGT thing myself at one time. But later I said to myself live and let live. Who am I to judge. God made all of us, let him be the one to judge.

Now I have some great LBGT friends and they are cool. But they know I will not cross the line and they respect that.

Many times we make the mistake of judging people through our premise today completely disregarding the era which those people exist in. That is doing a disservice to how we see the world today. I don’t lose sleep on how anyone choose to live as long as they don’t try to impose on my space.

I was not tolerant towards gays myself until I worked with a young gay male. His hands and walk moved different from us straight men. He told me that he was not gay. Ten years later I met the guy on the street and he told me that he became gay. That was when I realized those people were born that way.

I worked with some gay men. They are the nicest guys you will meet. I never hated gays but at one time I always made jokes about them. God made all of us. If he did not want gays, he would not have made them. There is enough room in this world for all of us to live in.
