Education Minister proud of Anna Regina students’ CSEC performance – 21 gain over 8 Grade Ones

Minister of Education Priya Manickchand said she was exceptionally proud of the performance from the students of the Anna Regina Secondary School, Region Two as these are children who are not from what is touted to be the top schools, but who did extremely well. The school has recorded 94 students passing with 21 gaining more than 8 grade ones.

The Minister travelled to the school today to announce the 2013 results for the Caribbean Secondary School Examinations (CSEC) and also CAPE.

The two students who copped the highest pass rates were Zimeena Azealia Rasheed with 18 grade ones and two grade twos, and Yogeeta Persaud with 18 grade ones.

Minister Manickchand said a closer look at the results would show “why we are so very pleased at the performance of this school. Because the number of children who passed are close to and even exceed the number from the top schools.”

She noted also that this demonstrates that the Ministry’s delivery of services is equitably done.

The Minister observed that once every Government delivers service equitably then people will benefit and their lives improve.

She also made special mention of the huge success story of three hinterland scholarship students who were in the top group of the school. Students who came, she pointed out, “from hinterland places, and who would not ordinarily have had the chance to do well. Because of the Hinterland Scholarship Programme where we financially upkeep them, they are doing exceedingly well, telling us that the programme is a very successful one.”

While happy that Region 2 did very well, Minister Manickchand is also particularly impressed with the performance of students in the private schools, which are on par with the children who got top grades.

Burnham schools doing great

Yes, after the PPP took control of it!

the Multilateral Schools always did well since they started up

If the PPP educsation system is so great why only a few schools are doing well.

Burnham invested more in education than the PPP will ever do.
