Ameela Singh – Owner/Nurse Practitioner at Carpe Diem Concierge Medicine

Ameela Singh is the Owner/Nurse Practitioner at Carpe Diem Concierge Medicine; a concierge/house-call medical service for adults in Maryland that she launched in early 2017.

“I’m excited because this practice allows you to have a deep relationship with your medical provider, which is a golden opportunity today. Knowledge is power, and knowledge about your health sustains life.” ~ Ameela

Born in Georgetown, Guyana Ameela’s family migrated when she was 3, and she was raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland. As a youth, Ameela was always drawn to caring for others whenever her family members were not feeling well or had cuts and bruises. It was inevitable that Ameela would pursue a career in medicine.

Ameela obtained her Bachelors of Science at The University of Maryland, College Park. She then focused her career path in the field of nursing and obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Marymount University and her Masters of Science in Nursing at The George Washington University. She was on the Dean’s list at each institute and was further inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, Nursing Honor Society.

Her medical experience spans many specialties and fields. She began as an RN at The George Washington University Hospital where she served in the NICU and many Med-Surg areas: Acute Stroke, Pulmonary care, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, and various other medicine services. As a Nurse Practitioner, Ameela has experience in acute primary care, preventative and functional medicine. She has a strong desire to continue to serve her community, under-served communities, and those in need here and abroad. Her one goal if asked “is to leave a tiny footprint in someone’s life.”

How can she make Guyana proud when she is living and practicing her medical profession in the United States? BTW, congrats to the lovely lady.

Correct, jackass Granger and PNC/AFC have driven out most if not all enterprising Guyanese from the homeland.

I can name 1000 professional Guyanese who are working and living in the USA/Canada. Do they count as making Guyana proud?

Just when you think you've seen stupidity and ignorance at it's best, these two come and outdo themselves. If Guyanese anywhere outside of Guyana excel, they are not representative of Guyana and we're not allowed to be proud of them. I think you hit it on the nose. Jealousy.

If they excel at what they do, Absolutely, you clown!!!! Look up the word proud and all it's uses and connotations.

This is a discussion board and let's stick to the discussion topic. It's always nice to spotlight Guyanese and their profession, especially to young people like Ameela Singh, but your heading is absolutely wrong to say she makes Guyana proud. If she had taken her profession to serve Guyanese in the homeland, then she will make her country proud. I rest my case.

What don't you understand that this young lady is practicing her medical profession in America and not in Guyana? I am proud of her as I am proud of many Guyanese who came to America, study and became professionals in their line of work. We have many Doctors, lawyers, and office professionals in my area. On GNI, we have many professionals who are retired. Take for example, Mitwah, D_G, Bibi, Gilbakka, and many other who served Guyana before they came abroad, and they have not gotten any recognition like these replacement, pretty little children.

Medical studies are indeed very challenging no less than the sense of fulfillment when being able to work in that field. I am always proud of people in this pursuit. I love this story as much as I love the one of Dr. Samantha. Congrats.

Recognition is indeed provided to individuals; either those born in or those who immigrated to the said country.

A few threads in the past on GNI focused on the activities and recognition given to participating individuals.

Professionals do not seek avenues to gain recognition. They simply work in their various fields and the results are noted by others.

He used to go up Belfield and bathe the Comrade Leader's horse.

Mars

Let me add that Churchill is an another professional that served Guyana and gets nothing in return. His personal contribution as an educator servers much more than being in politics. He was disappointed with the PPP then. Is he disappointed with the PNC/AFC now?

The operative word is enterprising, not those looking for low wage subsistence.

Deryck, so how come you are stuck in a low pay position for the past 20 years?
