[www.inewsguyana.com] – Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond has found Sam Hinds Jr guilty of the charge of wounding. Hinds Jr is the son of Prime Minister, Samuel Hinds; he will be sentenced on February 20.

In March 2014, the 33 – year – old had pleaded not guilty to two charges which alleged that on February 27, 2014 at Duke Street, Kingston he made use of threatening behavior against his sister-in-law Tenza Layne.

He was also accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounded Layne. The Court was told then that Hinds had accused Layne of stealing one of his cell phones and grabbed the woman by her hair and pushed her to the ground.

The Court heard that he stomped Layne before dragging her on the ground and beating her with a cane. He then brandished a gun, cranked it and threatened to kill her.

Prior to the guilty plea, the Miner was on $150,000 bail. He was represented by Attorney – at – Law, Peter Hugh.

We wait to see what will happen to the most recent elite son of the land, who is charged with rape.

Too much free-bee floating to their arrogant young generation, who think dem own Guyana and are above the law, jus like their parents.

The sons of many affluent parents have been encouraged to do as they please

Dear Editor,

The current matter where the son of a rich man allegedly sexually molested a teen caught my attention. Mr. Editor, sons of many affluent parents have either been encouraged to do as they please or they “bluff” at the expense of their well-intentioned parents. Please allow me to relate an incident related to the former scenario. I was having a few beers with some friends at a “watering hole” in Enmore a few months ago. At a nearby table were four young men, all past half drunk.

The filth coming out of their mouths would give serious competition to what would come out of another part of their anatomies. A member of our table asked the young men to tone down their expletives, to which the apparent leader of the quartet- retorted that we did not know who he was and who his father was and he could behave anyhow he wanted to because his father was a big one and Guyana was a free country.

They continued with their filth for another half-hour and then left the shop, but not before coming to our table and ALL of them repeating the “F” word, either showing that they were “bad” or tempting a confrontation.

I am aware that one of my friends found out who the “bully” was and spoke to his father briefly on the phone. The father was very dismissive of the complaint. The bully resides in the Better Hope area.

Mr Editor, the full force of the law should apply in this sexual molestation matter. Anything else will be condoning repeats of this nature.
