Robberies at end of November number 2,674, fatal accidents up by 11 per cent

After the headlines about armed bandits brandishing AK-47s and the robbery of a Corentyne, Region 6, money changer, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) released its statistic for November 2016.

A total of 2,674 various types of robberies were recorded at the end of November 2016. These include:
1.    Robbery under arms (firearms used) – 720
2.    Robbery under arms (other instruments) – 285
3.    Robberies – 37
4.    Robbery with violence – 91
5.    Robbery with aggravation – 59
6.    Larceny from person – 112
7.    Burglary – 206
8.    Break and enter and larceny – 1,164

There were also 133 murders recorded at the end of November 2016, as well as 234 rapes. Also a total of 96 illegal weapons were seized by police officers, including: Pistols – 42; Revolvers – 28; Shotguns- 24; and Rifles -2.

Meanwhile, the Guyana Police Force contends that it has recorded a 16 per cent decrease in serious crimes at the end of November this year, relative to the same period last year.

Django, it should be reported and recorded robberies. A lot of time when the police are involved, the robbery goes unreported and unrecorded. So you may add another 10% or 15% to this total.
