OPPOSITION coalition, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) is confident of victory at the polls tomorrow, buoyed no doubt by the strong showing it was able to attract to the Square of the Revolution last night for its final rally. The word ‘confidence’ was the rallying cry as speaker after speaker took to the podium to make their last-ditch pitch to the sea of eager faces before them.

For Prime Ministerial Candidate, Dr Rupert Roopnaraine, the "green" fever has engulfed the nation. "The river of green has come to the square of the revolution and look how it is overflowing the banks...Granger planted green in every region, and it is flowing through the entire country...The great rivers of green will flow through to the country," he exclaimed, adding:

"On the 29th November, there will be dancing in the streets, not only in the city but dancing in the Pakaraimas, dancing in Charity, dancing all the way to Moleson Creek, and there will be fire works in Buxton..."

Like Roopnaraine, Party member, Lurlene Nestor, too, smells victory, and took the opportunity to urge supporters to ensure that it’s an early win for APNU. "We winning,” she said, “but we winning early."

She also urged that they encourage others, like family members and friends and people in their respective neighbourhoods to vote APNU. "It ain't over till the last ballot count," she said. "This is time for serious business."

Again taking her cue from Roopnaraine, she said: "Guyana has gone green," in reference to a new craze she said she noticed while on the campaign trail.

And, unable to resist taking a jab at minority opposition party, Alliance For Change (AFC), Nestor said: "Ramjattan said the AFC won't join APNU because their financiers say no… If financiers more important than voters, then they (AFC) are irrelevant.”

Next up was Chairman of the Peoples National Congress/Reform (PNCR), Cammie Ramsaroop, who opined that change was certainly in the air, and that Election Day was for him "Redemption Day."

And, presidential candidate, David Granger, in his highly-anticipated presentation reminded his audience of APNU’s plans he insists will ensure a better life for all Guyanese. These include improved security and education, the creation of jobs and ultimately a government of national unity.

Others addressing the gathering were youth advocate, Ganesh Mahipaul, PNCR’s Robert Corbin, APNU Executive Member, Volda Lawrence as well as representatives from other political parties in the coalition.
