"While the combine opposition of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the Alliance For Change (AFC) display that they will abide by the ruling of the of the House Speaker to allow Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee to speak, they voted against the Firearms Amendment Bill, which seeks to make trafficking in components of a firearm a criminal matter.

The bill which is said to be in keeping with Guyana’s obligation to international treaties on trafficking in arms and ammunition, was in the name of Rohee.

The bill which was not passed, cannot return to the house until the 11th Parliament."

This is more then enough proof, that the joint opposition doesn't have the interest of the Guyanese populace at heart, instead they are pre-oocupied playing partisan politics.

Well they cannot prevent Rohee from speaking because the bastardized Linden Forbes Samson Burnham Constitution, which the President said he loves, said they can't. Only Ramotar can prevent him. Instead he prefers his Minister who allowed a Commissioner who "benefted materially from the drugs trade" to serve. That's Ramotar's choice to have a Minister of Home Affairs whose US visa was revoked. It does not mean the opposition should cooperate with him. It just means the opposition can't stop him from speaking in Parliament.

Again TK - for more then the n-th time - it requires at least sixty-six { 66% } percent of the MPs to made the needed changes to the Constitution.

When has the AFC cum PNC made any concrete proposals to effect the adjustments to the Constitution?

The current Government has, for practical purposes, 50% of the MPs in parliament.

What you wrote there is logically irrelevant to the issue at stake. If Ramotar has the will then we can get the 66% to ditch or reform the bastardized Burnham Constitution which Ramotar said he loves. The opposition said it is willing to change it...he said he loves it.

Again and quite simple, show clearly where the AFC cum PNC made concrete efforts to present the needed changes to the Constitution.

They made significantly better effort that Ramotar who said publicly and clearly he sees nothing wrong with the bastardized Burnham Constitution.

Then, it would be quite simple for you to present the AFC cum PNC current proposals for the needed amendments to the Constitution.

Those of us who are involved in that know both PNC and AFC have specific proposals. When only Ramotar is said he does not want any.

Perhaps only to the PNC cum AFC but unavailable to the public and the Government.

Wow, such bitterness, signs of bewilderment. Seems you have no confidence in your agenda.

At a press conference today, March 15, the people's progressive  party once again reiterated that it will stand behind Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee, firmly stating that Rohee is here to stay.

The PPP is contending that Minister Rohee has been vindicated at all levels.

Central Committee Member Gail Teixeira says this is not the first time the opposition has tried this tactic though this time it is much more targeted.

On March 14 the parliamentary opposition voted down government’s Firearms (amendment) bill because the bill came in the name of Clement Rohee.

The opposition is arguing that it is a greater danger having Rohee responsible for national security.

However, Minister Rohee, who is also a central committee member of the PPP says the opposition with its move did not consider Guyana’s accountability to the citizens and the international community.
