LINDENERS JUST POOR ENOUGH TO PAY CURRENT RATES

With 70% to 80% unemployment in Linden according to the APNUites and AFCites and talk about the community being on the brink of devastation one would easily reach the conclusion that these people do not have the ability to pay even their current electricity rates.

It was most informative when I learnt via the Guyana Times today that in fact the leaders of the β€˜Shut down Linden” campaign are encouraging residents to pay the existing rates but no increases.

So the poverty stricken (according to the opposition) people of Linden have the ability to pay but just not a cent more (according to the opposition). One wonders how this is possible as if you have unemployment rates of 70 to 80 percent; this means that entire families have absolutely no source of income.

Where are they getting this money from to pay their current bills and putting food on the table?

Then there is another dimension to the issue as for the past few days we have seen the organizers of the protest action either trying to justify the low turnout or openly appealing for more people to come out and support their actions.

In fact Lincoln Lewis (APNU’s point man in the β€˜independent’ Trade Union Congress or Talks Utter Crap = Lewis) was publicly begging the people of Linden to come out for a protest action in their very own community as he lamented the low turnout.

One now wonders that if 70% to 80% of the people of Linden have nothing to do, no jobs and obviously most of these people voted for the APNU in the last elections, why are they not coming out in their very own streets to join the protest?

Is it that the people of Linden have finally seen through the lies and racial hatred spewed by the APNU and supported by the AFC against the PPP in the lead up to the last elections?
