A Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) minibus carrying two ballot boxes from Brickdam Police Station and elections material overturned when a car slammed into it at the corner of Robb and King Streets.

Several persons, who were in the bus, were taken to the hospital. GECOM’s security officers and police rushed to the scene and took charge of the ballot boxes and materials.

Representatives of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), Alliance For Change (AFC) and the Peoples Progressive Party moments later accompanied the boxes, envelopes, a crushed Bible and other material to GECOM’S headquarters.

The party representatives and the items were whisked away in a car PJJ 9318 with a mobile patrol of heavily armed police.

Though the bus overturned on impact, none of the ballots or other material was seen outside the bus on the road. Police, soldiers and members of the Guyana Prison Service voted Monday from 7 AM to 7 PM, ahead of civilians who would do so on November 28.

APNU polling agent, Volda Lawrence, speaking from GECOM’s headquarters, assured that everything was intact and there is nothing fear.,

“All unused ballots are accounted for and non of the ballot boxes was opened,” she told demwaves.com. She said efforts were being made up to 8:48 PM to record the incident in a log-book. Her sentiments were echoed by the AFC's David Patterson.

“So far, we rechecked everything. We did manual checks. The seals are unbroken and so we are pretty comfortable with the two boxes that I have observed,” Patterson told Demerara Waves Online News.

Police patrols quickly arrived on the scene and kept curious onlookers at bay.

However, those efforts did not prevent several of the persons from suggesting that skullduggery was afoot and that the accident might have been contrived.

“We need Granger,” “God is in charge,” “Is time wid dem” and “I know they start a problem,” were some of the comments made persons at the scene.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that the accident occurred shortly after 7 PM when PKK 6376, going east on Robb Street, slammed into the GECOM bus, PJJ 9158.

The bus driver is seriously injured. He and four others were up to late Monday night receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

The ballot boxes will be stored at the GDF compound and Granger will order the GDF to switch them and stuff boxes with fake ballots. Aren't you glad that Guyanese are living in a democracy?

Recents reports out of Guyana said that the disciplined votes were as follows:

AFC: 59%
PNC: 30%
PPP: 6%
TUF: 3%

as of 10:15 pm GT time

One thing for sure - the PPP WILL NOT WIN this set of votes.

It is believed that the ballot boxes were on their way to Gecom HQ for storage, after voting was completed at Brickdam police station, when the accident occured.

A late report indicated a certain political party in panic, ambushed the ballot boxes with the purpose of rigging the election. Their party members were seen nearby.
This report later turned out to be false, but the party panic situation remains in force.

As I mentioned months before, there are plans by the PPP to try to switch voting boxes. Some of those boxes might have been in a shipment of containers from the US marked building materials.
